Adventures Unbound was created in 2015 by Carrie Boggess Windmeyer. She grew up with two family members with disabilities including an uncle with Down Syndrome and an uncle with Cerebral Palsy. After taking her uncle on a cruise in 2013, Carrie began thinking about the difficulties and possibilities of traveling with people with disabilities. Thus, the idea of Adventures Unbound began. Carrie obtained a bachelor’s degree in Therapeutic Recreation from Oklahoma State University. After college, she became a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist. She gained experience as an Adaptive Recreation Program Specialist with Austin Parks and Recreation, an Assistant Camp Director over Programs at Camp Summit and a contract Recreation Therapist in the community. She has over 20 years' experience with the special needs population. It is her passion to create safe and unforgettable experiences for people with disabilities.
