WHAT WE DO

Carrie founded Adventures Unbound in 2015 with a vision of creating safe, meaningful travel opportunities for adults with intellectual and physical disabilities. As President and CEO, she has dedicated herself to building an organization that promotes independence, inclusion, adventure, and connection for both Travelers and their families. Carrie continues to serve on the Board of Directors while leading the organization’s growth, programs, and mission-driven impact throughout the community.

Jennifer began volunteering with Adventures Unbound in 2017 and has been a dedicated part of the organization ever since. She joined the Board of Directors in 2023 and currently serves as Program Coordinator, leading the planning and coordination of many of the organization’s trips and experiences. Jennifer’s heart for service, attention to detail, and commitment to creating meaningful opportunities for Travelers have made her an invaluable part of the Adventures Unbound family.

Sarah has been traveling with Adventures Unbound since 2018! She joined the board as the first Traveler Liaison in 2025! Sarah works for the Waxahachie ISD as a dispatcher. She says she enjoys traveling with Adventures Unbound because she can travel and do things without relying on her parents, but she knows any assistance she needs will be taken care of. 

Lynn joined the Adventures Unbound Board of Directors with a strong personal connection to the mission, as the sister of an adult with disabilities. She was honored to be invited to serve and has been an active board member since 2022. Lynn’s primary role is to bring the family and caregiver perspective to the Board, ensuring that programs remain meaningful and responsive to those served. She has contributed to the development of the Volunteer Training Program and currently supports the creation of the pilot for the Access Adventures Scholarship Program. Lynn especially values the time she spends interacting with Travelers, where her passion for the mission is most evident.  

Jay began volunteering with Adventures Unbound in 2022. He soon became a core volunteer for the organization and was asked to join the board of directors in 2023. The travelers are drawn to Jay thanks for his generous knowledge of dad jokes & keeping the vibe at 100! 

Joy brings both personal and professional experience to Adventures Unbound and has served on and off the board since 2018. Growing up with a brother with special needs inspired her 16-year career as a special education teacher. After being introduced to Adventures Unbound, she quickly became involved and has served as a volunteer, Board member, and trip cook. Joy finds great fulfillment in helping create meaningful experiences for Travelers and supporting the organization’s mission.
